The idea can, perhaps, be boiled down to whether we love unconditionally or conditionally.

It is hard to love unconditionally because of our fears.

Whether we love unconditionally or conditionally is a choice, a choice we constantly make in every relationship and in every situation. A daily practice might be to ask "What would Love have me do?"

Jesus taught that the way to the Kingdom is "to love as I have loved."

Thank you Sean for this reflection.

You're welcome, David. Thank you for reading and sharing.

Where choice appears, yes. We are called to choose to love unconditionally, which so far as I can tell, means to live non-violently, in an intentional and communal way.

And yes, it is hard but hard in a way that ordinary people can do it. We all have the potential.

But also, the ones whose practice of A Course in Miracles touched and taught me the most, say that choice is the last illusion. When "nothing real can be threatened, nothing unreal exists" is our truth - when we understand it and consent to live from the understanding - then the question of how to love does not arise because there IS no choice. Love IS.

The suggestion is, this can only be known in the holy instant.

Singh from "the Forty Days in the Wilderness:"

In the present there are no choices.

The present has the vitality of perfection -

the eternal.

He wrote it in all caps :)

On that view, even the "choice" to love unconditionally serves the ego's purpose because it implies there is something to choose AGAINST. On that view, choice and separation serve the same purpose - alienation from God and Creation.

Singh again:

In a non-choice state you are whole and holy -

one with God.

For me, the crisis this begets cannot be denied, is not merely psychological but existential and cries out for a radical solution that is basically incomprehensibel to the world. If choice is the problem, then what?

Which, of course, pitches us right back into the problem :)

Thanks again, David 🙏🙏

Love,

Sean

Thank you for this Sean. When I read this I thought how beautiful that I get the opportunity to do this, to be that space of love with everyone I chose to look at with truth today.

I want to walk this world as an ark of peace. I want to be at peace, and I want to bring the world to a place of peace in every moment. Thank you, I love the reminder that I con do this, all I have to do is to choose to do it.

Bless You Sean, Much Love as Always, Suzy x

Thank you for sharing Rebecca. Relationship with fellow travelers is very important; it is really what keeps me going. It is HOW I learn to remember Love, and it is WHERE I learn to remember Love. I talk a lot about study and application of ACIM. In truth, relationship with others is the classroom. Thanks for stating that so clearly, and for sharing the way with me.

Love,

Sean

Thank you Sean for keep reminding us. Today my lesson is 167 and I read your piece for this lesson. You wrote about all my difficulties very precisely. It is very comforting. I am not the most difficult Course student, my specialness is not the most special, we are all the same. Thank you for sharing 🙏🙏

Sean that's a great post,so apt for me at this time. I've seen it many years ago how much we need each other as paul urged two to walk together if one falls into a ditch the other can pull him out. Thank you Sean
