I kept thinking I should add a joke to this post since it's about laughter, but nothing obvious appeared (big surprise) so I'll put one here.

How many tickles does it take to make an octopus laugh?

Ten tickles.

Get it? Ten tickles? Tentacles?

I know, I know . . .

Janice

Thank you so much for this message as it re’mind’ed me of a situation in my life that was upside down in ‘this’ world. I was with a friend sharing and I said “ I am afraid. “. My friend very quietly asked ,”What are you afraid of?” I stopped, thought and after a while answered “ I don’t know. “

Fear is a thing that you make up. (Fear thoughts) Love is a thing I am.

A lot of love got me through the situation and joy was the outcome.

Today I read from Lesson 292 “ And He guarantees that only joy can be the final outcome found in everything. Yet it is up to us when this is reached; how long we let an alien (fear) will appear to be opposing His. (Love Will)

Thank you for the reminder. Janice

You're welcome, Janice. And thank you for sharing, both the memory and the lines from Lesson 292. It's perfect. I think that statement "I don't know" has a lot of power in it. It's the ego who rushes to explain, decide, assert, all in order to appear certain. I know in my practice when I am willing to be vulnerable, it almost always becomes a site of learning and healing, i.e., joy.

Thanks again 🙏🙏

Thank you Sean. Your post was perfect timing for me. I realized in the last few days that I have been feeling a low grade anxiety (fear) because I feel I am not living as the Course says I should be by devoting each day to miracles. I finally recognized this as fear which blocks the awareness of love and then I read your post which showed me the way out of that fear.

You're welcome, Yvette. Thank you for reading and sharing. I very much identify with ath low-grade anxiety arising from not practicing the Course. I forget this - the Course is not just information but also application. It is meant to be lived. Thank you for the reminder, and for the kinds words.

Love,

Sean

Hi Sean, in recovery we say fear is False Evidence Appearing Real.

I was struck by the quote that we "chose what we think is real". Doesn't this apply to believing fear based thoughts!

I really enjoyed this post. I read it many times already. John
