The Ego hates and therefore we cannot hate the Ego. As we forgive Jesus we must also forgive Ego and if we fully can, it re-integrates into the Mind/Heart of Love.

I can forgive almost anything, except torturing and killing animals. I hate it from the core of my heart. ACIM doesn't make that any better, even when it tells us that we are not the body. Yes, we are also the body. Not only, but also. And nobody has any right to kill and torture and make any animal miserable. There I am absolutely not with ACIM, but with Buddhism.

Thank you, Yvonne. I hear this. We all have those places in our mind where forgiveness cannot go; it's not a crime against God or Nature but it does impair our remembrance of peace. For some people it's animals, for some it's children. These are effectively special relationships which allow us to hide the light of Christ by creating a bright line between right/wrong, good/evil and then separating everybody accordingly. Vegetarians good, meat-eaters bad. We all do this!

The invitation ACIM makes is to look at this hatred, this unwillingness to forgive, without indulging any justification for it (see T-30.VI.1:1). For example, say that I hate politicians and political activists who support gun policies that increase the likelihood of kids being shot. On the one hand, who would argue with me? It's horrifying and insane.

On the other hand, it is not possible for me to hate - to hold apart from salvation - just a few of God's children because in truth there is only one Child! To hate at all is to hate wholly, and hatred is not a worthy gift unto Creation. That is the real challenge of ACIM and part of why I consider it such a rigorous spiritual practice. It does not leave us any wiggle room when it comes to love; our forgiveness cannot exclude anyone or anything and still be forgiveness.

Like everyone else, I experience this as a learning opportunity.

I don't know if you're interested but I wrote a lot about this issue in my post of food and A Course in Miracles here: https://seanreagan.com/food-and-a-course-in-miracles/

Though we did not do it this year, we often raise and kill our own meat. Maybe you can forgive me!

Thanks again for sharing, Yvonne.

I am not a vegan or even a vegetarian. I eat met. I hate the torturing of animals. That is all I can say. I also hate the torturing of people, as it is happening now, with the corona restrictions. I hate torturing and traumatizing people and animals. I just hate it.
