The world is Christ asking to be remembered as your own self. To be given life in your body, in order to teach you that you are not a body. To end all conflict in the world in order to teach you that peace is what you are. Love is what you are.
We can ignore this but we cannot make it untrue. Ignoring it hurts and trying to make it false hurts worse. It is better to give attention to it.
In time we are being saved; in truth we are saved. The way we remember this is by saving others. Make of yourself a gift unto the world. Giving everything away is how we learn that we are everything. There is no such thing as lack, loss or sacrifice. We are children of God and our inheritance is love. There is nothing else but love.
This is a big promise. But it is not an empty promise. It is not frivilous.
When the light comes and you have said "God's Will is mine," you will see such beauty that you will know it is not of you. Out of your joy you will create beauty in His Name, for your joy could no more be contained than His. The bleak little world will vanish into nothingness, and your heart will be so filled with joy that it will leap into Heaven, and into the Presence of God (T-11.III.3:3-5).
The other morning, before dawn, carrying hay to the horses, a light snow fell, not quite hiding the moon. I stood a long time in the stillness. Thought subsided, boundaries melted. I was one with the snow, the moon and the horses. I was one with beauty, one with love.
This begins as projection! Do you see? We have to see this. I separate beauty and holiness and cast them out. The moon is just the moon, snow is just snow. It is my projection that makes them beautiful and holy, tripping me into memories of divine oneness.
Beauty and holiness are qualities of what we are in truth which we displace, reversing cause and effect. I think the cause of grace is the moon and the snow, which are outside. But it's the other way around. The moon and the snow are an effect of love, which is me. And you too, by the way.
Therefore, become responsible for projection. Not just the apparently bad stuff but the apparently good stuff, too. Notice when you are projecting and stop. Ask yourself: "what am I so scared of that I have to literally construct a world in which to hide it?"
When we give attention to this question, we begin to notice that differences don't mean as much as they once did. Judgment feels unnecessary - not good or bad, just not needed. The external world is transformed as peace flows across it like a river.
This is the dawning of the remembrance of our true nature as Christ.
You will notice something else, too. While you can project a horror show, you can also project a beauty so perfect and clear that it stills thought and dissolves the heart. This is because deep within you is a love so pure, just and merciful that it scares you. It scares you and it scares the world.
This is the Love of God, which is without distinctions altogether. It is this love which establishes us as Christ, and this is what we are truly fear. So for now, the beauty of the moon and the snow must remain hints of the Creator's love for Creation, which we both have and are. It’s all we can handle right now.
In time, we lose our fear of this love and become less interested in defending ourself against it. Our heart fills with joy and "leaps into Heaven and God's presence" (T-11.III.3:4). God’s will for you is peace, and His will for the world is justice. In you and me - when we are ready together - it is accomplished.
Love,
Sean
